Leaves Are Falling

Gathering Activity: We painted tree trunks with paint brushes and brown paint. Then we sponge painted colorful leaves on our tree.



Circle Time: We read Fall Leaves Fall and sang "Leaves are Falling All Around." We also sorted silk leaves. We also tossed and danced with the leaves as we sang our song.



Snack: We ate cheese and toast cut into leaf shapes.


Nature Walk: We took a nature walk outside and observed the colorful leaves. Each child collected their favorites in a bag.


Art: We created these window sun catchers. We used contact paper. Each child placed their items they collected onto the sticky side on one half of the sheet. Then we folded it over to create a seal and hung them in the window.

Pumpkin Party

Gathering Activity: We all wore orange and black to class! When we arrived we read Halloween books with our Mommies.

Circle Time: We read The 5 Little Pumpkins and did the finger play and flannel board story together. We discussed what we were dressing up as for Halloween and read the book I'm Not Scared. We sang a song about a Scarecrow in a pumpkin patch, too.



"I'm a little scarecrow filled with hay. Here I stand in the fields all day. When I see a crow I like to shout, "Hey you crows, you better get OUT!" (I'm a little tea pot tune).

Art: We decorated pumpkins with pipe cleaners, stickers, felt, glue, paint, feathers, googly eyes, and pom poms.



Activities: We played a bean bag toss game with pumpkin buckets.



We also hid these cute little pumpkins and the children had a great time searching for them.

Snack: We ate pumpkin cookies and orange carrots! Yum!

Zoo Day






Gathering Activity: We played with zoo animal puppets, masks, and toys. We also read zoo stories.

Circle Time: We read the Mixed Up Chameleon. Each child chose animals and we sang "The Animals in the Zoo" (wheels on the bus tune). "The elephant at the zoo says....All through the zoo."


Art: We glued noodles to make the manes on these cute lions.



Activities: We played musical animals. We danced to the song "The Animal Fair". Each time the music stopped we found an animal picture to stand on.



We also played with peanut butter play dough and made animal shapes together.

On the Farm



Opening: We played with the Fisher Price Little People Farm and read farm stories with our mommies.



Circle Time: We took turns choosing farm animals from the fisher price pieces and sang Old McDonald Had A Farm using the animals we chose. We told the story of The Little Red Hen using flannel board pieces. We sang 5 Little Ducks using ducky flannel board pieces.


Art Time: We made fluffy sheep by gluing cotton balls on our sheep picture.


Activity: We played a matching animal sounds game with farm animal pictures. We listened to the book Barnyard Dance.


Snack: We ate popcorn and fresh apples from the farm.

Fire Station






Our Mommy and Me group took our first field trip to the Fire Station this month. We had a great time! We checked out fire trucks, an ambulance, and the bean bag toss game that the fire fighters play. Some of us even checked out a little bug crawling on the floor. We all had a great time! (Okay mommies, I need some of your pics too).

On the Go

Our theme this week was "On the Go."


Gathering Activity: We did transportation floor puzzles and read stories with our mommies about cars and trucks and trains.

Circle Time: We sang "Little Red Caboose," "Hurry Hurry Drive the Fire Truck," and "The Wheels on the Bus." We told the story "Freight Train" using flannel board pieces and reviewed colors. We watched "Here I Go" from Signing Time.



Art: We painted car shapes using 8 different colors and vehicles with different tire treads.



Activity: We played with the train table and trucks and cars.



Snack: We ate pizza wheels, banana wheels, and grapes!



We missed our friends who were sick!

Our First Day!

Wednesday was our first Mommy and Me Day!

Theme: Rainbow Fish and Colors

Gathering Activity: Colorful Puzzles and Color themed Books read with our Mommies.

Circle Time: We listened to a flannel board story about Rainbow Fish. We sang a fishy song to the little teapot tune. "I'm a little fish in the lake so blue. There are so many things that I can do. I can splash around with my tail and fin. The Water's fine, just jump right in!" Each child got a little fish diecut to swim around with as they sang.

Art: We sponge painted fish to look like rainbow fish and added aluminum foil for sparkly scales and a googly eye.



Outside Play: We played with a colorful parachute and with bubbles. We also played in the water table and added ice cubes that had been dyed different rainbow colors.



Snack: We ate goldfish crackers and tuna fish sandwiches cut into the shape of fish with a cookie cutter. We also ate yummy watermelon!
